Our Featured Pets...
In honor of Mother's Day, this month we'd like to feature the 5 wonderful moms who are currently with us.
"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world." - Agatha Christie
Frankie

Frankie was a stray who delivered 5 beautiful kittens the day before she was relinquished to us. She is one of the greatest examples of how dedicated moms are. She's not only doing a great job of keeping up with her 5 kittens, but she's also fostering 2 of Ginger’s kittens! Frankie's kittens were born on 4/6/08 and should be ready for adoption by 6/1/08, however Frankie won't be ready to leave us until Ginger's kittens are ready for adoption.
(Frankie's kittens: Aretha - grey female, Ella - white female, Natalie - grey tiger female, Bing and Harry - tiger males, born on 4/6/08)
Toffee

Toffee came to us from a local animal control office. Around 3/22/08, she delivered three beautiful kittens but unfortunately only one survived. Toffee is now fostering two new kittens of different ages while weaning her own. She is a wonderfully protective mom who takes great care of her kittens!
(Toffee’s kitten: Sprinkle - male, black, should be ready for adoption by 5/17/08)
Daisy

Daisy and her four kittens came to us from a local animal control office. She's a great mom who is very protective of her kittens but is also very loving towards humans. Daisy and her kittens should be ready for adoption by 5/20/08.
(Daisy's kittens: Lilac - grey calico female, Poppyseed - grey and white male, Clover and Thistle - orange and white males, born around 3/25/08)
Shelby
Shelby was pregnant when she was relinquished to a local animal control office. We rescued her and she delivered four beautiful kittens on 4/22/08. Shelby has already been adopted, but her adorable kittens are still looking for their forever homes. They should be ready for adoption by 6/16/08.
(Shelby's kittens: Lucia - grey female, Alexis - grey calico female, Denver - grey male, Pumpkin - tan male, born on 4/22/08 )
Ginger
Ginger came to us from a local animal control office where, in addition to her own 5 kittens, she was given 3 more kittens to care for! Unfortunately, Ginger was not healthy enough to care for so many kittens. When we rescued them from Animal Control, she and her kittens were all very underweight. Luckily, we had some other moms willing to help out and foster some of the babies. Although one of the kittens did not survive, the rest are on their way to recovery and should be ready for adoption around 6/21/08.
(Ginger's kittens: Nutmeg - smokey calico female (fostered by Frankie); Paprika - frosted silver calico female (fostered by Frankie); Basil - smokey grey female (fostered by Toffee); Saffron - frosted silver with orange and white, male; Pepper - grey female; Cinnamon - light calico female; Sage - dark calico female; born around 4/26/08)
Unfortunately, not all of our kittens will be able to spend this Mother's Day with their mom.

These cuties and their 2 litter mates were found under a trailer after their mom was hit by a car. They were bottle fed by two of our employees for about a week and a half, then weaned. The other litter mates have been adopted, but these two are still waiting for good homes!
(Cowardly Lion - white and brown tabby, male;Tin Man - blue point, male, extra toes; born around 3/20/08)

These kittens were found by one of our employees who heard Gizmo crying out for help on top of a shed. Thankfully this little runt had a big mouth or she and her litter mates under the shed may never have been found! They're all together now waiting for good homes.
(Mogwai - black and white, stub tail, female; Gizmo - black and white, stub tail, female; Stripe - black and white, stub tail, male; born around 3/3/08)

Don't forget about our Scratch-n-Dent special! Every month we feature an exceptional pet at an exceptional price. These unique pets need a little extra care and devotion. Some have special food and medication needs while others just need a very patient and understanding guardian who can recognize an outstanding pet when they see one.

This month we're proud to feature JR. JR is sweet, affectionate and loves to roll on his back to get his belly rubbed. He is crazy about water and his favorite activity is chasing water from a hose or sprinkler (a home in drought ridden areas with heavy water restrictions is not his ideal home!). He will sometimes chase his tail too ... even though he doesn't have one. In his old age, JR has become increasingly more intolerant of other dogs and needs to spend his golden years being spoiled and doted on as the only dog. For more info about this wonderful guy, please contact Jolene: JoHandysides@adkinspetcenter.com.
Our Scratch-n-Dent pets are usually 25% off, however this month's pet is Free to a Good Home. If you're the special guardian JR has been waiting for, please let us know!
