Darla

Hi there all! We just wanted to give y'all an update on Maddie (aka Darla, part of the rascals) ...

She is all grown up, and has (thankfully) steeled down a bit. She's coming up on her first birthday, yet still loves to be carried around like a baby. I have never seen a dog that likes this!!!! We have graduated from puppy class back in March, and have taken a trip to the kennel. She is so interested in everything. A very attentive dog.  We had the surgery on the entropia (?) affecting her eye. She will always be prone to getting eye infections, but the surgery has made vision more comfortable for her. Her personality is a riot. She is incredibly smart, she knows when she is going to be put into her crate, and proceeds to hide under the table. She loves to run laps around the house, as well as steal shoes out of the garage, only to return them on the front porch, and sometimes the middle of the yard.

Maddie and her 'brother' Maynard have become the best of pals. She has taught him so much. I think she's given him ten years on life. He never had played with toys, or another dog, for that matter. She has also made him realize that he can bark (I sometimes think that this may not have been all that great, but as long as he's happy...). They are inseparable for life.

And, I believe that Maddie has a bit of feline in her, or at least the 9 lives part. As a puppy, she had gotten anything and everything you'd imagine ... credit cards, a razor blade from a callus remover, countless tubes of eye ointment ... I know it sounds like we have been bad parents, but honestly, not really. How she managed to get wallets ... or onto the dresser for the ointment ... defies me. Thankfully, and after becoming on a first name basis with the emergency vet clinic, she has had no ill effects from any of her consumptions. She is a clever little thing. But if you have ever read any information on the Sheba Innu breed, she surly fits the bill ... to the tee. All the way down to the hideous (we find this soooo entertaining, we can laugh until we hurt listening to her) screech that she makes. It really is a sign of happiness, but sounds like a pitifully dying animal. We love sharing the experience with guests.

I have recommended you guys time and time again. We are blessed to have found you.
As you see Maddie has made herself quite comfortable. I'd love to have her come visit, if that could be arranged. I remember that she was a special pup to you all.

So, thank you for giving us a great light in life. She's our 'first born', since she's quite the baby. I'm sure that you give that great gift each time an animal goes through those doors. You all are amazing!!!  Thanks again!
